Types of visas
If you want to visit Ireland for a period shorter than 3 months, for example, spend holidays, short undertake study or attend business meetings, you may apply for a visa gearchuairte 'C' for single entry  . The maximum stay is allowed  visa 'C' of 90 days. If you enter the visa State 'C', you can not extend your permit to remain in the State. You must leave and other applications outside the State if you want to return.

If you wish to travel to Ireland for more than 3 months, for example, to undertake a course of study, work or live permanently in Ireland with family members already living in Ireland, you may apply for a visa ' In a single entry. If the visa is granted  'D' for you and if you want to remain in the State for more than three months, or after the period of permission granted by the Immigration Officer at the port of entry you Irish, you will need to register and obtain residency permit.
